Next Ascent Outdoor and Sport
Gear to help make your Next Ascent
Thanks for coming to Next Ascent’s new website joining outdoor and
Sports enthusiasts alike. First off, What is Next Ascent? "Next"? Nearest or immediately following. What is "Ascent"? A movement upward from a lower to a higher state, degree, grade, or status. Or, as we like to think of it, as moving indoors to outdoors from whatever you are doing now. In simple terms, get outside and play.
How did we get our start? We are a product of the credit market collapse of late 2008. With a loan for a retail store nearing the approval process, the credit and loan market collapsed leaving us with a pile of worthless loan documents. We had to come up with Plan B and fast. As the original founder of Next Ascent, and shortly after experiencing a tough corporate job loss, I had to make the decision to go with a cheaper and more feasible option of going online only for the foreseeable future. Was there challenges? Too numerous to count. There are still challenges. Our only option was to offer good quality used gear at great prices and in some cases purchase overstocks of new inventory from small retailers. We are now finding a few specialized brands to offer us to buy their new lines of product. Slowly but surely we will be adding some unique new gear. Not only are we a marketplace for outdoors
activities like hunting, fly fishing
and water/paddling sports like kayaking, but also for snow sports activities like
snowboarding and snowshoeing
...for both adults and kids.
We are about giving back to our community as well. We are a proud member of
1% for the Planet with our charitable focus on organizations who are getting children involved in Sports and the Outdoors such as cityWild
in Denver, CO. So you can feel comfortable in knowing that each item you buy will help a child learn to climb a wall or raft a river, or
catch their first trout, who might otherwise be relegated to a street
where trouble can find them.
We will have new content and products added daily and weekly so check
back often. We want this to be fun place to browse and shop and so
we always welcome feedback to make our site more user friendly, fun,
and educational. If you are a sales rep, manufacturer, or retailer who has gear to clear out please contact us. Feel free to follow us on
Twitter for additional updates and content. or find updates on our
Colorado focussed Blog for some great deals/coupons on outdoor gear, product reviews, and general information on Colorado Outdoor activities.
Happy shopping...and don't forget to find your gear go on your Next Ascent.
Meet The Staff
Eric Graham, Founder
A graduate of the University of Iowa, Eric still bleeds black and gold for the Hawkeyes. Much blood has been spilled recently
Arriving in Colorado in June of 1995, Eric came for the love the outdoors and to leave the brutal winters and humid summers of the midwest.
Next Ascent was started by Eric after a corporate layoff after giving up life and limb to an organization for over 9 years of National Account sales for a local foodservice distributor.
"My only regret is that I didn't start this business sooner".
A love for the outdoors including Fly Fishing, Snowshoeing, backpacking, hunting, camping, skiing powder, cycling, a stint with triathlons, and an occasional round of golf Eric is trying to pass that passion along to his 5-year old daughter Maya.
"If not for the outdoors and my family, I would surely be locked up in some insane asylum somewhere in a rocking chair staring aimlessly at the padded walls. Thanks god for trout streams!"

Nate Miller, Director of Product Sourcing
Since the first time I spent time in the outdoors camping as a little kid I knew outdoor adventure was for me. I now reside in Iowa City, IA where I am free to pursue my passions of mountain biking, road cycling, camping, fishing, kayaking and skiing. (I'm sure I forgot some of the other activities I partake in...) I do however have to leave Iowa for the winters to find the freshest pow the west has to offer.
Working for Next Ascent has been a dream come true, being able to test out the newest gear and getting more people out there into outdoor adventure makes it all worth it. See you on your 'Next Ascent!'

Laura Fritz, Social Media Director
Laura Fritz is fortunate to live in a state with almost constant sunshine, and the opportunities to be outside year round. She is an Oklahoma native who has called Colorado home for the past ten years. She loves to be outdoors, on her custom built pink single speed, or in the mountains on her K2 Luna snowboard, or in her favorite New Balance shoes running or hiking up 14ers. She has a schnoodle pup who goes on most adventures with her and loves the outdoors just as much as she does. Laura is a live liver Donor, and recently donated 2/3 of her liver to her mother. Graphic design and photography are two of her favorite things. Laura is fascinated with social media and its ability to connect people and their adventures. She lives each day to the fullest and is thankful for her family and friends.

Michelle M., CFO and Harnesser of Cash
Michelle loves to find ways for saving Next Ascent huge sums of cash and keeping the IRS off our back. Due to the fact that she has been relocated to the Federal witness protection program her picture has been changed to protect her knowabouts due to a UFO spotting several years ago. That is all we can say for now.
Clinton Mobley, Guru of all things HTML
